Liverpool Vs. Chelsea Premiership 19/08/2007

Sunday, August 19th, 2007 by Eoin

It’s Liverpool Vs. Chelsea again. Yes that’s right, the season is only entering it’s second week and we are already facing one of the games that will decide the title. If Chelsea win Andy Gray will be explaining to us why Liverpool’s season is over and Sky will spend the next week crowning the champions. If Liverpool win the next week will be filled with talk of a three horse race. It’s sensationalist, but in reality, it’s not that far from the truth.

Whichever manager drops points will tell us that it’s too early in the season for it to be a factor, but the truth is Liverpool need to show they are serious about the league this season and Chelsea need to make Man United pay for their poor start to the season. With United playing Man City in the early kick-off it’s a very big day in the football calender.

Once again I urge even those who aren’t football fans to tune in for these two games as, one way or another, they are going to provide a lot of entertainment. A repeat of last season would do me nicely.

For the first time since Rafa Benitez took charge at Liverpool I get the feeling that he believes he now has a squad that can win the league. When Rafa puts his mind to something he usually gets it. Did you know he promised his wife he’d win the Champion’s League during a conversation in 2004? Then he took over at Liverpool and went and did it in 2005. His focus was on the FA Cup after Liverpool got knocked out of the Champion’s League in 2006 and his focus was again on the Champion’s League in 2007 when Liverpool made it all the way to the final.

If Liverpool beat Chelsea tomorrow then maybe, just maybe this could be the year all Liverpool fans have been waiting for.

Pictures of The Dark Knight

Ordinarily I’d hold off until Monday to post this but I doubt this video will still be on youtube then. Some still have been leaked from The Dark Knight and here they are compiled in a 2 minute video.

On the 1:20 mark, is that Cillian Murphy second from the left? Looks like the Scarecrow is back!

Daft Punk movie, Electroma: two robots on a quest to be human.

Daft Punk have a movie, a ’silent’ feature, called Electroma about two robots traveling America on a quest to become human. Busy lately aren’t they? I can’t decide if I would want to wtch it or not. It looks interesting, but would it be engaging enough?

Daft Punk & Kanye West get Stronger, or some other tabloid style title.

I quite like a lot of Kanye West stuff, but he is definitely improved by this teaming up with Daft Punk. I don’t normally watch TV, but I got multichannel recently and I watch Music TV while having lunch and this is on a LOT. Nice enough video too.

Frank Miller the director

Friday, August 17th, 2007 by Eoin

miller_spirit_poster.jpgI was reading today about a film Frank Miller is to direct called The Spirit. It’s based on a comic by Will Eisner, and Miller is adapting it for the screen and directing. I am not familiar with the comic but when you cast Scarlett Johansson in a film you get my attention. Anyone familiar with it? What do ye think of the casting of Samuel L. Jackson and Gabriel Macht?

I was a little surprised to see that Frank Miller was directing now so I imbd’d him. Turns out he directed Sin City as well. I don’t know how I missed that? Sin City had three directors according to imdb. Rodriguez, Tarrantino and Miller. I remember hearing it was directed by Rodriguez with a sequence directed by Tarrantino, but this Miller stuff is new to me. I’d be interested to know what parts he directed. Sin City was a film I really liked but there were certain stories in it I thought were superior to others. I’d be curious to know who directed what?

Apparently Rodriguez and Miller (no Tarrantino yet) are also making Sin City 2 and 3 and Johnny Depp is rumoured to be joining the cast.
