Book Autopsies
Came across this via Eddie Campbell’s blog.

Brian Dettmer carves into books revealing the artwork inside, creating complex layered three-dimensional sculptures.

Check them out here, really simple idea, but really nicely done.

Garage - the film

Tuesday, September 25th, 2007 by Emmet

GARAGE the new film by Leonard Abrahamson and Mark Halloran is coming to cinemas in Ireland on October the 5th.

Regarded by his neighbours as a harmless misfit, Josie (Pat Shortt) has spent all his adult life as the caretaker of a crumbling petrol station on the outskirts of a small town in the mid-west of Ireland. He is limited, lonely, yet relentlessly optimistic and, in his own peculiar way, happy. GARAGE follows Josie’s hapless search for intimacy over the course of a summer which sees his life changed forever.

While it isn’t playing for laughs to the same extent as the creators previous film Adam & Paul, it’s still pretty funny, albeit in a fairly understated way. The trailer below, sums it up pretty well, and while Garage is a bit harrowing at times, it’s all in all well worth checking out.

Alcoholics Anonymous the Movie.

Bif sent me an email telling me to watch a YouTube clip he’d found. I was surprised to find, essentially, the Hollywood movie version of one of our cartoons!

You know.. this one:

Much to the rest of the groups horror Bob had completely misunderstood the concept of Alcoholics Anonymous.

I forgive them for stealing our idea*, because they also made this beauty - ‘the slow jerk clip

The Whitest Kids U Know also made a courtroom clip which I thought might interest John from Hammergrin as he was involved in penning something along similar lines… though I prefer Hammergrin’s somewhat darker sketch…

* - yes of course I know they didn’t steal our idea.

Ricky Gervais to make a feature film

Friday, September 14th, 2007 by Eoin

Yes boys and girls the man who brought us almost as much awkward comedy as Larry David is to make a feature film. Ricky Gervais is to co-direct and co-write with someone called Matt Robinson. Anyone have any ideas who he is?

“This Side of the Truth” is set in a contemporary world where no one has ever lied. Gervais will play a performer who tells the first lie and harnesses its power for personal gain.

And here’s the dance from The Office…

Wraith Pinned to the Mist and Other Games…

I believe that Of Montreal played Electric Picnic, but I didn’t know them so I didn’t see them… judging by this song and music video, I’d say they were good fun! Can anyone confirm?
