Wordie is like Flickr, but without the photos. You can go there and make lists of words. It sounds crap but, for a guy who can pass several hours flicking through a dictionary, it’s pretty fecking close to heavenly. All it’s missing is lots of booze, football and naked women. So, okay, maybe it’s not all that close.
Drawn, once again, pointed me in the direction of these Peanuts/Marvel crossovers. I just really love these Snoopy/Spiderman ones.
I was hoping to find a website by the artist responsible but he doesn’t seem to have one. I did, however, find a forum post where explains his technique.
‘These pictures are hand drawn and fully painted on clear plastic acetate, to give the appearance of animation cels. I draw on the front, then paint the reverse side (I had to learn how to paint backwards…) and slide a sheet of coloured background card behind. To me, and a few of the people who now have some of these pieces hanging in their homes, the reduced-size scans don’t do justice to the vibrant colours that result from painting on acetate.’
I’d love to get a look at the originals because I’d say some of them are stunning.
Am I seeing right? Are they really advertising sex-toys on the telly now? Twice on channel 4 last night, I saw it. Good ad too.
