When I saw the recent comments on this post I remembered this video I’ve been meaning to post. Yes, I’m still obsessed with The Dark Knight.

Gyllenhaal is doing a great Katie Holmes impression isn’t she? The Dark Knight is going to be a very interesting film.

This ad makes me laugh out loud every time I see it. Apart from just being funny, I think it’s particularly brilliant because I don’t flick channels when watching tv, so I am a captive audience to ads. When this one came on, I assumed it was another awfully terrible horrible ad appealing to the yoof of today. Until it gets to the end and I realised they got me.

I’ve been over-whelmed by the marketing campaign for The Dark Knight. Maybe some day I’ll get the time to catch-up and post about some of the more interesting things I’ve missed. The latest step was the more straight forward marketing move of a new poster release.

It’s taking a slightly different direction though don’t you think?

So someone eventually figured out that Godfather Part 2 and Heat didn’t quite make the most of putting Al Pacino and Robert De Niro in a film together. In Righteous Kill, due here some time in October, they play cops and are partnered up together so they’ll probably be in almost every scene. Unfortunately from the trailer the film doesn’t look very good.

It’s directed by Jon Avnet who, strangely enough, directed Fried Green Tomatoes and Up Close and Personal. Bit of a genre switch for him but he’s also got 88 Minutes coming out in a couple of weeks stateside. The trailer for 88 Minutes has a similar feel to the Righteous Kill one. I’m hoping on both counts that the trailers have been designed to miss-lead the audience a little but I’m fearing the worst at the same time.
