Dracula-esque coat of arms…

Coat of arms

It’s ages since I just posted something creative I had done, and while looking for something else completely I came across an illustration I did for a poster for Dracula, which wasn’t used in the end - it wasn’t really liked and we went in a whole new direction. You can check out the final poster if you want. Anyway, I messed around with the original illustration a bit tonight and thought I would share it with you. Why not eh? I like the up close detail too…

bebold

Yes I admit I have a Bebo account. Yes I admit I don’t really ‘get’ it. But there’s a competition running, in association with Zazzle to design a ‘back to school bebo t-shirt’ or something, and I entered.

The competition was to take the bebo logo and make a cool design… so i made an effort, and now I need you to vote for it!

You can go to the Zazzle competition page to browse and rate all the entries, or just use the Flash panel below to rate my shirt - preferably a high rating :D

Raquel Aparicio - Spring tendencies

Raquel Aparicio is a Spanish illustrator who studies in Edinburgh, and she has worked with, to name but a few The New York Times, The New York Times Magazine and Elle magazine.

The above illustration, which is actually called ‘Spring tendencies’ (and not Little robots and a wind up girl) is my favourite, but it’s worth browsing through her other other work, she has some other beauties too.

Mr Amperduke cover feedback…

Amperduke Cover

Bob, over at Clamnuts, has been working on the cover for his silent masterpiece Mr Amperduke. He posted some mock up covers to solicit feedback, and of course I couldn’t resist throwing my oar in.

I’ve stuck my suggestions on to the end of Bob’s mock ups above, I edited Bob’s no.3 and no.6, as the two I feel have the most potential.

No.3 is the most eye catching which I think is important, and no.6 has class which is another good way to go.

I took the eye catchingness of no.3, gave it the vibrant brick colour from no.1 and the solid composition of the brick in no.2 - so my first edit is really a combination of all three in Bob’s top row.

My other edit is just his no.6 simplified as I felt it needed to be more confident in itself.

Head over and let Bob know what you think yourself!
