Best Kid’s Book Ever Needs Your Help!
March 26th, 2007 by Frank
I said there was exciting news on the way… and I can now tell you that myself and John McCarthy have the BEST KID’S BOOK EVER up our sleeves.
Everybody in the whole world is going to love it. In fact, so far all the people in the world that we have shown it to DO love it.
It’s a short colour picture book and it’s highly original.
We made it because we wanted to, because it was a brilliant idea, and John’s writing and my illustration work really well together, and it was INCREDIBLY FUN TO DO!
So now all we need to figure out is the best way to get it published. Can anyone help?
If you can help in any way, pointers, tips, links, contacts, ANYTHING appreciated. Please leave a comment or use our contact form! Thanks!
More on this again soon…

I’ve seen it and it’s truly original ….absolutely brilliant.
If your a kid, you’ll laugh your head off.
If your a publisher, you’ll make a lot of money.
If your me, you’ll be smiling every time you think of it.
Thats it….I’m setting up a publishing company…..kids young and old need to see this book.

Well I have a copy of the Children’s writers and artist yearbook, if you want to have a look through it.

Thank Rich!
Bif, nice one that’d be great. Is it helpful? We haven’t a clue what kind of deal we should aim for or anything.
I was thinking after I posted this that I should ask Tomi Ungerer for advice too.

It’s got contacts and stuff like that in it. Just bought it on impulse a couple of weeks. Haven’t really looked at it. Tomi Ungerer would be a very good idea and I seem to remember Sarah Maguire’s old man wrote a couple of children’s books aswell.

Get an agent… best advice anyone could give. Deal directly with publishers and you will be taken for a ride… more so than any cut an agent would take.

Sounds like good advice. Is it difficult to get an agent?

Apparently it is. All you can really do is submit to a few and see who bites. No doubt it could take a while.

Yeah, well I don’t think we’re in any hurry so it could be nice to spend time getting to know the angles…. but any shortcuts to that end would be great!

[...] As I mentioned already John McCarthy wrote the best kids book ever, and I illustrated it. It’s a picture book, and we are now working on a companion piece for it - we see the two stories being published together as both are beautifully short. [...]
