I think the idea behind this is to boost the number of links into the charities websites and thereby increase their Google juice which could mean better search results in Google etc for them.

It also raises awareness among the blogging community, while I don’t think many will click through each and every one, the ones that have been added in each subsequent post would have a good chance of being clicked on.

It’s not the best idea I ever heard, because the quality of the links isn’t great due to it being a list of links, but it’s probably better than nothing as at least they’re all related. Also while everyone posting the same block of links has limited value in Google the addition of new ones each time means at least it’s not exactly the same block each time.

So, I figured if there was a chance of helping give their sites a boost it was worth doing.

As for the Asthma Society I haven’t had any first hand dealings with them I have to admit I just figured they had to be doing some good!

Ah Frank, spreading viral crap? For shame.
What’s worse is, I can’t believe you added the asthma society, from what I can tell they’re useless. Please correct me if I’m wrong, but it seems, they do nothing constructive at all.
As far as I can tell they basically just collect money on street corners to promote asthma awareness (this seems pointless at a local level).
During my 30 years as an asthmatic I’ve phoned them a couple of times with queries relating to asthma management and they’ve been f*ck all use.
