Suffolk Murders

December 14th, 2006 by Bif

I was half tempted to write a long post about the nature of the media and how we all react to tragic events such as the recent five murders in Ipswich, Suffolk. But it seems a bit trite at this stage. However there is still something really off about the palpable sense of excitement in the voices of the Sky News reporters when they talk about their murder scene maps and the like. I, by and large, like 24 hour news and I can usually stand the scrolling text, breaking news music and dumb hyperbole but somethings demand a more sombre tone.

Just for clarity Martin, when you’re going to run off on a tangent, could you maybe fill us in on some of points you passed getting there. If you’d be so kind.

Hi good point you made about the press nicknaming as you said its all about selling thier papers. SOUK been founder been campaigning to home office etc for a while now to end murders and rapes to all that work in the adult trade, either sexworkers on streets, and there are some not on drugs and work the streets by chooice and those working in house or flats and not being made to work in the trade and thier ecorts who visting clients homes hotels etc.

Ref to what you said about the press should be helpping the police, well as you know now a male been charged with five muders of the ipwich sexworkers due in crown court on the 2/1/07 and much to my shock, someone l know, who does massage work, only had in as a client back in october this year four weeks before the frist gril went missing.
Three days ago the person l know said she only resently noitce this was the same male, who tried certian things on to her during the massage, and saying a lot of privte and perosnal things, that just may well help the police, if its not to late for this information.

Yet dispite her efforts to report this and going fristly via crime stoppers, she got nowhere and then the perosn who took her call via the suffolk police contact centre , was dismissing her. Shes now put of contacting them and wonders if she should of reported wright to police back in oct, and yet there is more support for those who work by chooice and in doors or when needing to report risky clients.
She really stressed out right now .

Well yeah I can imagine your friend being stressed out but, putting aside the severity of the situation, there is only so much she can do and she shouldn’t feel responsible. The onus is on the police now and you’d think they’d have learned their lesson on that by now.
