You said it yourself Martin, "who in the main have no interest in politics anyway." We can go around saying they should or we can take steps to help them gain an interest. Holding the elections on a Friday or a Saturday would be one thing that could help them gain this interest.

The poor students! Bloody hell what a soft shower of shits they've become. In Iraq, when they had their first elections, people queued for hours, risking bombs and bullets to vote and you're giving me drivel about pampered Bebo generation students who in the main have no interest in politics anyway. Why don't they register in the constituency where they're living for the four years they're studying? That's where the day to day issues of political life will impact on them most. Or is it an Irish thing where home is where Mammy is?

On Thursday the students can't get home to the place they are registered to vote.

Well, without missing classes anyway...

My point is that Bertie made a big deal about his timing elections so that the younger voters would be encouraged to vote. Now that the signs are that Bertie won't get said votes he's making it awkward again.

Well the figures I read on turnouts made a lot of sense so I supported it... I know it seems like an odd one, but various articles I read convinced me it was worthwhile...

What's wrong with voting on Thursday? On Saturday many people like to go away for the weekend. On Thursday the polling booths are open long enough to cater for everyone who wants to vote. Nice graphic design Frank, but I think this is a stupid campaign and it won't be getting my vote.
