Another casting update from The Dark Knight
March 9th, 2007 by EoinI seem to be slightly obsessed with The Dark Knight, but there are a lot of interesting casting decisions to be made. The latest is the re-casting of Rachel Dawes.
Maggie Gyllenhaal is in final negotiations to take over the role after Katie Holmes had “scheduling conflicts.” Yes, the sister of Jake.
Seems a good choice to me. I found it hard to believe Katie Holmes as a tough lawyer and I think she’ll always be a teenager to me after the Dawson’s Creek incident. Although Maggie is only one year older than Katie and still 3 years younger than Bale I’ll find it a lot easier to take the relationship seriously.

I’m excited. The movie is almost here. I think that Maggie Gyllenhaal is a good actress that can easily fit into the Rachel Dawes role. Katie Holmes’ shoes, while pretty, isn’t all that tough to fill. I’m also very interested in seeing Heath Ledger’s take on the Joker — in sadly, one of his last roles.

Yeah, i wasn’t a fan of Katie Holmes in Batman Begins either, I like an awful lot of Maggie Gyllenhaal’s work though.
