Benicio del Toro IS Che Guevara

May 14th, 2008 by Eoin

Steven Soderbergh is directing two film about Che Guevara – the Argentine guerilla leader who played a major part in the Cuban revolution. The Argentine and Guerilla. While The Argentine is to be released by Focus Feature, Guerilla is still without a distributor. Why would you not distribute both? Hopefully all that will change after the screening in Cannes.

Thanks to Cinematical (where you can see another one) for the picture.

Terrence Malick was originally supposed to direct it seems… Perfect casting, nice new photos. Can’t wait for these films, fascinating character. I actually ploughed through a really dense book of his life once. I wonder is Guerilla dealing with more sensitive matter that the distribution company is wary of?

I guess it must be. Makes it all the more interesting even. Maybe that’s their plan?
