Get yourself Arrested it’s hilarious. (see what I did there..?)
September 12th, 2007 by FrankA few years back I stumbled on one of the funniest shows I had seen on TV in a long while, Arrested Development. According to good ol’ Wikipedia, it has a cult following, great reviews from critics and numerous awards, but poor ratings led to it being cancelled after the third series.
I originally caught random episodes on TV at odd hours (presumably due to poor ratings) but then I bought series one for my brother and watched most of that with him - I have yet to borrow it from him to finish it, but it nearly had me in tears laughing at certain points. I haven’t borrowed it yet, because he is now rewatching the whole series and finding it even funnier at times.
I found an MSN site for the show where you can allegedly watch the pilot and other stuff, but it wouldn’t open in FireFox and crashed IE for me, so check it out at your peril!
There’s loads of clips up on YouTube, but most have been butchered by amateur editors to piece the ‘best bits’ together, which doesn’t work at all as the pace of the editing and the way each episode is constructed that lends a lot of weight to the humour.
However, while there are LOADS of clips on YouTube from Arrested Development, they seem to get taken down very quickly too, so I hope the following two clips stay up long enough for you to watch them… they are not at all the best bits of the show, but I really liked these little clips of an incidental character ‘Bob Loblaw’. It’s funny either way though! As for Arrested Development, I never got into it. I’m thinking it’s the narration that turned me off.

ya that’s fair actually. the narration can be a bit weird (or awesome, depending on the episode). something i really didn’t realize at first, which explains the narration and shakey-camera, is it’s all about imitating a reality TV show. …maybe that’s super obvious and i’m just dumb… but i never watch reality TV and hadn’t realized it…anyway going back and thinking that made some of it make a bit more sense.
