Heath Ledger Dies

January 23rd, 2008 by Frank

Heath LedgerEoin texted me last night to say there were rumours that Heath Ledger had died, and it seems the rumours are true. Heath Ledger has died at the age of 28, leaving a young daughter behind him. Rumours are that it may have been an overdose as sleeping pills were allegedly found scattered around his bedside where he was found.

The internet is mourning him it would seem, this site got hammered due to some old posts mentioning him, many thanks to our hosting provider Blacknight for keeping it all under control!

I’ve heard denials about there being pills scattered around the place. Apparently he was unwell, and most likely has accidently OD’d. Sounds far fetched, but I’d like to think so.

it’s very sad in it’s own right. But without wishing to seem callous, what makes it worse, is that he was working on a Terry Gilliam movie when he died. Gilliam really has no luck when it comes to things beyond his control stopping production of his films.

    Sad stuff.

very sad, and terrible too that one of my first thoughts was ‘will his death affect the release of the dark knight’… What a world.

I’ve heard the denials this morning too. They seemed quite sure last night! It seems odd that he would commit suicide, but I don’t know what was going on in his personal life.

In true Hollywood fashion we will never know the full truth and there will be various conspiracies.

Goes to show that film stars are human too. People in the media should try and remember that!

I for one was very saddened by this news now knowing that his serious talent is now gone when he was just beginning his rise to the top.

I very much enjoyed “10 Things I Hate About You”, “The Patriot” and “Brokeback Mountain”. After seeing the preview for “The Dark Knight” awhile back and Heath’s version of the Joker, within just those 2 mins. I instantly realized that he’s not just another pretty face w/ some talent, but something much more.

I was very impressed with his performance in Brokeback, but after seeing the short snips of him in “The Dark Knight” preview I knew he is someone with real talent, and serious dedication. TV guide chennel did a big story about it today and said it took Heath 6 months just to achieve the Joker’s laugh which you get a short audition of in the preview.

But it does bring me comfort knowing all the idiots and know-it-alls who posted comments protesting Heath being cast in this role long ago, here:

    …are now eating their words.
Not to mention the photoshop pic was way off, but a fair effort nonetheless.

And if you were disappointed by “Batman Begins” than your expectations are much too high because it was a great movie, and you have no business posting comments about the sequel.

He scored an oscar nomination for his role in Brokeback, but I have no doubt that “The Dark Knight” will be his best, career defining role.
