Irish - sure you might as well be speaking Chinese.

My Canadian cousin mentioned this film to me the other evening, and by odd coincidence I stumbled upon a reference to it today and thought I would share it with you.

‘Yu Ming Is Ainm Dom’, directed by Daniel O’Hara is a flawed but interesting short film. The look and feel of the film is gorgeous, but not really suited to the piece if you ask me - this is essentially a one gag film with a couple of different spins on the gag thrown in, but the style is slow and easy going where it should really be fast and snappy to get the laughs.

Still, it’s watchable and does highlight the demise of our native tongue - a theme the director seems to be continuing with - check out his follow up ‘Fluent Dysphasia’ with Stephen Rhea.

You can watch Fluent Dysphasia on Atom Films. Fluent Dysphasia starts out well, and at first seems like the director may have found an approach to the theme more suited to his style, but it kind of fizzles out after the first five minutes or so…

Still, possibly a director to watch - both films show a lot of potential.

Exactly what kind of visa was this character travelling on?

You always get straight to the nub of the matter Martin… others would have missed that vital point…
