It’s Gross Point Blank 2, but not as we know it.

It’s not the much talked about sequel to the excellent Gross Point Blank but it’s hard to miss the similarities. John Cusack playing a depressed hitman dressed in a Reservoir Dogs style black suit, with Joan Cusack as his assistant, etc.
Whether this means there is still a Gross Point Blank sequel in the offing or not I don’t know. I for one am hoping not. A film like Gross Point Blank screams one off to me and any sequel would just detract from the original in a Star Wars prequels kind of way. Now a prequel to Gross Point on the other hand? NO…Leave well enough alone!

Dammit. It doesn’t look good. For a moment I was hopeful. When is someone going to give John Cusack the role he deserves???

No it doesn’t. I liked it more the second time I watched it (after I figured out it wasn’t actually a Gross Point Blank sequel) but my first response is usually accurate.
John Cusack had the role he deserves in Gross Point Blank. I think he’s found his level these days to be honest.
