Star Wars: A New Intro

August 23rd, 2007 by Eoin

While looking for Han Shot First I stumbled upon this video of the original intro to Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope. It’s pretty awful but I love this kind of stuff. I saw a bit of this on the DVD extras but I’ve never seen the whole thing. The quality’s not great but if you’re as obsessed with all things Star Wars as I am you’ll still enjoy it.

I’m glad they went with the classic opening instead.

Awesome. Luke sounds a bit like Marge in Fargo at the beginning there. “yeah, yeah, there are two ships up there”. I love the Biggs stuff. That should have been left in IMO. Makes us actually feel sorry when he dies at the end of the film.

The Biggs stuff was always a little strange in New Hope, but I’m not sure that footage should have been left in. Luke is whiny enough as it is! It would have been good to have an understanding of the Luke/Biggs relationship though.

Even though I don’t think this footage is great it strange how much I enjoyed watching it!
