May 14th, 2007 by Eoin

It might be July 2008 before The Dark Knight opens here in Ireland, but there’s been a lot to talk about already. Warner Brothers have recently released this teaser poster and while I find it difficult to look at I can’t stop…

They’ll never get better than Burton’s bat symbol. Almost wish they had just stuck with it, but I suppose they had to go for a ‘grittier’, ‘early draft’ feel for these films.

Still though, this does remind me quite a bit of the Batman Returns teaser posters -

    To paraphrase the joke..

Whats the first thing that comes into a bat’s head when he hits a car’s windscreen ?

  3. Rich.. Says:

    His arse..

Burton’s films were the best. Encouraging signs from Nolan that he’s trying to do something similar anyway. That Batman Returns poster is class!

Rich, are you saying the Dark Knight poster remind you of you of a bat hitting a car’s windscreen? I can see that I suppose! :)

  5. Rich.. Says:

Nope…one of the headlights…but for the joke i had to take artistic licence..

  6. Frank Says:

Ah, Burton’s films were good but they didn’t represent to me the best aspects of Batman - the Frank Miller stuff. The first half of Batman Begins was getting there before it degenerated into the usual Hollywood bedlam ending required for a summer blockbuster. Shame.

As a film I think Burton’s 1989 Batman was a masterpiece. I wasn’t really one for reading the comics or graphic novels but I think that was a fantastic Batman and a fantastic Gotham.

I’ve since read one of Miller’s graphic novels - can’t remember the name, the one with the old Batman. I thought it was great but I prefer Burton’s Batman. Of course the two were so different that it’s hard to compare them really.

Look for bogus name “Roary’s First Kiss”

They are taping the Dark Knight on Broadway one block north of Irving Park in Chi-town.

Go see the actors and actress…great setup and….. talk about stunts to be filmed at night after 11 on Broadway.

  9. Eoin (author) Says:

Are you saying The Dark Knight is being filmed undet the bogus title of “Roary’s First Kiss”?
