The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

July 14th, 2008 by Frank

Another interesting looking movie starring Brad Pitt, this time from director David Fincher comes ‘The Curious Case of Benjamin Button‘. With my faith in David Fincher renewed by Zodiac, I look forward to seeing this one. No release date for Ireland announced yet, but it’ll be early 2009.

Looks good alright. Fincher and Pitt could be a winning combination.

Although Fincher seems to follow the Star Trek model when it comes to the quality of his films… that is, the odd numbered ones are never quite as good.

    1) Alien3 ….’Directors’ cut was actually quite good. Released version poo.
    2) Seven ….Brilliant.
    3) The Game ….I liked it, but seems to have been forgotten.
    4) Fight Club ….Brilliant.
    5) Panic Room ….meh.
    6) Zodiac ….Brilliant.
    7) Benjamic Button ….?

That’s an interesting theory and hard to argue with it. This looks more like a Tim Burton film than a David Fincher film. It probably won’t pull up any trees at the box office but I wouldn’t expect anything other than a good film from Fincher.

Maybe an Oscar nomination for Pitt too?

Heh heh… yeah, I said the same thing in my Zodiac review. So far, just going on the trailer it looks like it’ll be watchable, good natured shite :P
