Their policies show a scary amount of naivety. Take their stance on biofuels, which they are very much for. However biofuels require a mono-crop system, which utterly contradicts their stance on sustainable agriculture. They are also totally against GMOs (for which they give no reason) yet the current crop options for biofuels are not very productive, realtive to oil based products. This can be changed by conventional plant breeding, however this would take quite a long time (many generations of plants). Genetic modification would seem to be the viable option. Will the Greens go for it? Will they sell their souls to the Fianna Fail way, become all Bertified?
