Death needs time for what it kills to grow in.

Photograph by Chema Madoz, from Madrid. Madoz has several books of his work published, some of which are available on Amazon.
Post title borrowed from William Burrough’s ‘Ah Pook‘. Not sure what the actual title of the photo is, if any.

Burruogh’s quote is the perfect title for this work. I think the piece itself is rather stark and the quote just gives it that extra edge. It’s one of my favorite quotes anyway.

I’ve seen a lot of discussion and debate about this quote and its possible meanings. Funny, it seems cut and dry to me. Perhaps it’s easier to understand in context with the larger work, which at this point is a series of Q & As. This was the answer to the question “What does death need time for? A: The answer is so simple – death needs time for what it kills to grow in for Ah Pook’s sweet sake – you stupid vulgar greedy ugly American death sucker.” Sums it all up very nicely don’t you think?
