‘Valentia To Vegas’. Series 1.

Variety talent shows are having a re-birth worldwide, from Simon
Cowell’s hugely successful America’s Got Talent to Graham Norton’s
When Will I Be Famous,
people are watching in their millions. TG4 will be the first to bring
this revival to Ireland.

With the increasing popularity of internet sites such as YouTube, the
public have shown their willingness to put their best foot forward &
sometimes in their mouths. Not everyone can sing but most people have
a party piece, a comic routine, an impersonation, a magic trick or a
dance and we’ll be giving them a platform to strut their stuff.
Valentia To Vegas will search the country for the most popular talent
act as voted for by TG4 viewers. The eventual winner will find
themselves whisked away to the entertainment city of the world, Vegas,
for the holiday of a lifetime and the chance to showcase their act at
the MGM Grand to an audience of top talent scouts.

(If you are interested in getting more information about this, please
send me an email saying so to marcusbale@gmail.com and I’ll send you
the full details.)

Percussion Workshops
CITY BOOM BOOM - School of West African Percussion

The workhops will be led by Wojtek Peczek whose talent, experience and
unique pedagogical approach has made him a very sought after
percussion teacher.

Wojtek has travelled throughout Guinea, and has intensively studied
both traditional and modern music together with the village
musicians(Malinke), as well as contemporary ballet soloists,
(Conakry). He has also, over the past number of years, learnt from and
played with the internationally renowned djembe master Mamady Keita.

Wojtek brings this music to Europe in the form of concerts and
workshops. He teaches rhythms on the djembe and bass drums (Malinke:
doundouns). He incorporates traditional African (repetition) and
modern western (analytical) methods in his teaching, and helps each
participant in the way most useful to them. He is a dedicated and
patient teacher, who creates a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere, where
everyone can at the same time feel comfortable and concentrated.

Instruments will be provided for workshop participants.
