CASTING
For A New Play Entitled “BEATEN”
There are three roles. They are siblings. They are very pale, blond
and small of stature. The action is not set in a particular time or
place. Each play themselves as young children (8-12 years) and
teenagers (13-17) and older adults (35-45), they also play other roles
within the play i.e. father, mother, priest etc.
Female: the youngest, she is a good-looking girl, a tom-boy, often
tough but given to extreme frailty at times. Her movements range from
bird-like, speedy to complete stasis. She has long blond hair, which
she wears loose and unkempt. She has the mid-range voice of the three.
Male: the middle child, physically sturdy, broad shouldered, but not
taller than the others. He has very short blond hair; is very handsome
and has the deepest voice of the three; he moves energetically and
with confidence, is often volatile, challenging convention and wanting
revenge.
Male: the eldest, is the slightest of the three with the lightest
voice; he tries to mould himself into whatever space he finds himself.
He will do anything to keep the peace. He moves tentatively and
awkwardly. His left arm is partially paralysed, he holds up it as if
it is in a sling, this limits his physical movement considerably.
Auditions will be held in early April. A Rehearsed Table Reading will
take place in mid to late April. Full Production will take place for
two weeks in Cork in September with a four-week rehearsal period in
August. Equity rates apply.
Please send your CV and Headshot to:
‘Beaten’ Casting, Granary Theatre, Mardyke, Cork or email to
info@granary.ie before 5pm on 4th April 2008.
These roles are very specific; experience and strong abilities in
physical theatre, musical harmony, rhythmic movement and a Co. Cork
dialect will be an advantage. We will only contact you for audition if
we believe you may be suitable.

The Irish Theatre Institute is creating a new Irish Theatre Artists
Database. Be sure to create a profile for yourself, and to let others
you work with (actors, producers, set & costume designers etc) know
about it too — it sounds like a great resource. Check it out on
www.irishtheatreinstitute.ie/ita.
