Violent Acres gives the finger to the blog police.

Violent Acres is an anonymous blog that has been fast becoming unbelievably popular. It contains controversial, polarised views & stories written by someone who puts themselves forward as a married woman in her early thirties.

Everybody wants to know who VA is, and why they do what they do. Except me. I don’t care.

I just want to talk to you about comments, but before I do I want to share two posts from VA that I quite liked about political correctness and racism:

Now, about comments. Over at my day job I wrote a post about comments and the fact that how you manage your comments is up to you - it’s your blog.

A blog, if you ask me, is a set of writings presented in a reverse chronological order. Commenting is an optional extra.

What does this have to do with Violent Acres?

I liked this, from the FAQ:

9. Why don’t you allow comments on your site? Why don’t you post your email address?

Well, I think that’s pretty obvious, don’t you?

Because I don’t want to interact with you.

I don’t want to feel obligated to reply to your boring emails. I don’t want to take time out of my day to moderate your silly little comments. I don’t want to run in your cliquey high school social circles and I don’t want to be a part of your immature little Internet wars. I don’t want to be your friend.

Networking is just a fancy way to say ass kissing and a link from you is not important enough to me that I’d actually pretend to like you. Besides, I don’t need my virtual dick sucked to feel good about myself in the morning.

A little bird told me, way back when that blog first started, that the blogger is the same as cluelessincarolina.blogspot.com. That’s been posted in a lot of places.

She had another anonymous blog last year dissing dooce and other a-listers. She was pretty vicious in that blog as well.

I kind of like Violent Acres but wish that she’d just write the stories about her experiences, rather than picking on other bloggers. She’s a good writer but I don’t think it’s right to talk about other bloggers, unless you allow them a forum to defend themselves.

I don’t think that dooce or sweetney exploit their children. They’re just like thousands of other mom blogs that have pics of their kids. Ironically, the clueless girl has pictures of her kids on her non-anonymous blog.

Never heard of him/her and wouldn’t want to visit there after what you say. Sounds like a self-important idiot to me.

  3. Gingrich Says:

What’s wrong with being an idiot and considering yrself as important..?!

  4. Frank (author) Says:

Heh heh… Gingrich has a point Donncha - I can’t argue with you though, self important idiot is a reasonable deduction.

However at least some of the points are refreshingly reasonable… in an obnoxious kind of way…

Surely you have read similarly obnioxious sounding but funny/on the ball posts over at our very own anonymous blogger’s site Twenty Major?

My real point here though is that without comments has still achieved a certain level of Blogger famedom, and initiated conversations albeit through trackbacks rather than comments.

Which may be a lot more clever as it forces people to link to the VA site rather than simply add to the dross in the comment section…
